Thomas L. Conklin Jr. "Tat-Kosh-Kuk" 42, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2009 in an automobile accident near Atchison, Kansas. He was born on July 6, 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Nellie Cadue and Thomas Conklin Sr. He graduated from the Jackson Heights High School and then attended Haskell Junior College in Lawrence prior to graduating from the Topeka Police Academy. He was currently serving as the Chief of Police for the Kickapoo Tribal Police Department. Tom was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe where he served on the council and was a member of the Kennekuk Church. Survivors include his wife, Marcella Conklin of the home, Horton, Kansas; mother, Nellie Cadue of Horton, Kansas; three daughters, Ashlyn Conklin, Kyra Conklin and Kizzie Conklin all of the home, Horton, Kansas; brother, Jim Conklin of Horton, Kansas; two sisters, Chrissy Conklin of Horton, Kansas and Susan Fedorko of Minneapolis, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren and great grandchildren; step brother, Jeff Smothers of Topeka, Kansas; adopted family, Marjorie Pahmahmie of Horton, Kansas, Darlene Shuckahosee of Mayetta, Kansas, Janel Cadue of Horton, Kansas, Henrietta Brown of Tama, Ohio and Jim Pahmahmie of Horton, Kansas; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Kennekuk Church services will be at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Kickapoo Community Building.
