Obituary

Thomas Charles Means, 82, of Everest, Kansas passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Horton Community Hospital. He was born on February 15, 1928 in Horton, Kansas the son of Earl & Ethel Tate Means. Tom graduated from Kinsley High School and K-State University. He served in Germany with the U.S. Army. Tom was a farmer and stock man and a former member of the Everest United Methodist Church and transferred his membership upon its closing to the Horton United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the American Legion in Everest, Masonic Lodge, the K-State Farm House and served on the Horton School Board, Pony Express Community Bank Board and the Federal Land Bank Board. On April 4, 1964 he married Betty Sloan Hutchison in Everest, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Betty Means; daughters, Peggy Volenec of Brentwood, California and Sharon Green of Indian Head Park, Illinois; son, Tom Hutchison of Bella Vista, Arkansas; brother, John Means of St. Joseph, Missouri; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; niece, Carol Moreland and nephews, Bob & Dan Means. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:30 until service time.
