Valerie Jo Greene, 59, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at her home. She was born on August 23, 1953 in Port Sulphur, Louisiana the daughter of David John and Cora Elizabeth Puckett Madere Sr. Valerie worked as a waitress at several local restaurants for a number of years and then went to work with the Home Health Care program. Valerie then became the security guard manager at the Golden Eagle Casino and had most recently worked at the Sac-N-Fox Casino as a cook. Valerie married Rodney Meyers and they were later divorced. She then married Edwin Greene and they also were later divorced. She is survived by two sons, Ronnie (Melissa) Meyers of Hiawatha, Kansas and Ryan Greene of Powhattan, Kansas; two sisters, Carol Coots and Linda Alexander both of Horton, Kansas; brother, Roger Madere of Horton, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Kaitlin Meyers, Bethany Meyers, Tyler Meyers, Jolynn Grant, Virgil Smith, Shawn Greene, Miley Greene and Karson Greene. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Elizabeth Smith, three brothers, D.J., Charles and Robert Madere. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Valerie Greene memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
