Virginia Mildred Pederson, 90, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton, Kansas. She was born on September 14, 1922 in White Cloud, Kansas The daughter of Walter and Eva Knight Bomley. Virginia graduated from Everest High School in 1940. She was a homemaker, worked at the Horton Garment Factory and the Horton Greenhouse. Virginia was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA, Horton Hospital Auxiliary and the Women's Horton Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, painting, traveling and enjoyed giving and receiving personal cards. On August 31, 1940 she married Luther E. Pederson in Everest, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2006. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Ann Hossfeld of Aurora, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Jacki Pederson of LeCompton, Kansas; sister, Anita Ruth Madison of Jackson, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Jere Pederson and son-in-law, John Hossfeld. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Everest, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
